Moto racer scanning
INKAY, commissioned by one of the leaders of the automotive industry, scanned a motorcyclist and then created a model for use in computer-aided design systems to improve the aerodynamic characteristics of a racing motorcycle, taking into account the influence of the driver's body.
The motorcycle and the driver were placed in a room with artificial light, in order to minimize the influence of external lighting, the scanning was carried out using blue light technology. No matting spray was used during the scanning process.
For subsequent work, it was important to obtain the exact position of the driver on the motorcycle, so markers were applied to the motorcycle to create a support network.
Despite the fact that the driver was breathing and moving slightly, the markers on the motorcycle made it possible to accurately assemble the model.

Before creating the final model, all unnecessary data was deleted: motorcycle elements, captured indoor surfaces. Then the received one .The STL model was used to create surfaces based on the created reference network. As a result, the driver's model perfectly matched the existing CAD models.

The resulting 3D model was used by the company's engineers to perform engineering calculations and virtual tests, which made it possible to optimize prototype development and reduce the number of field tests .
RangeVision expresses its gratitude toINKAY Technology SRLfor the materials provided.
