RV 3D Studio software (until 2023 — ScanCenter NG) is designed for 3D scanning and subsequent processing of the received data. We do not divide our software into versions or reduce its functionality. The user has access to all updates and functions of the software that comes bundled with any RangeVision 3D scanner. When creating the software, our development team uses original algorithms for digitizing and processing the received data.

Main functions

An intuitive interface and convenient setup wizard make it easy to calibrate equipment and scan, even if you have no experience working with 3D scanners.

The program interface has been translated into several languages.

The program allows you to significantly improve the 3D model before exporting by using several tools:

  • Automatic manual stitching with and without markers
  • Filling the voids
  • Smoothing surfaces
  • Simplification of the 3D model, reduction of the number of triangles
  • Correction of grid defects
  • Automatic removal of small artifacts, noise, etc.

The use of ready-made marker substrates significantly speeds up and simplifies the scanning of objects of comparable size. The reference network of such a substrate can be saved and then simply loaded before starting work.

The program supports color-transfer scanning and has the function of automatically adjusting the white balance, which is important if the data obtained is used for color 3D printing or in computer graphics, animation and presentations.

The user can choose between scanning speed and detail by changing the resolution of the cameras.

The program makes it possible to combine scans in automatic and manual modes based on geometry or markers, and pre-optimize the model.

Before starting work, you can adjust the number of scanning angles, tilt angles and the number of revolutions of the slide table. These settings can be saved as a ready-made script and later used to automate streaming scanning of the same type of objects.

The built-in inspection control of the geometry between two grids allows you to visualize discrepancies in the form of a color map and take measurements at each individual point of the inspected 3D grid.

The final selection stitching option is designed for local alignment of several grids over a selected area and is useful for alignment between the reference and inspected grids according to the basic geometry.

Convenient export of the scene image allows you to save both the results of measurements performed and the results of constructing conventional and textured models in the main custom 2D graphics formats — JPEG, PNG, BMP, PDF with the ability to select the image resolution.

RV 3D Studio allows you to export 3D models in the most popular formats: OBJ, PLY, STL, PTX, ASCII.

The function of importing CAD files in the universal STP format with automatic grid triangulation ensures the connection of RV 3D Studio with 3D modeling systems.
