Major update on 08/31/26

Updated interface
We have completely redesigned the interface of the application — some users could already see its new concept at the summer exhibitions. In addition to the visual changes, we have updated the settings window: now the settings are organized into a logical tree structure. The home screen has become more informative and convenient, and all widgets are brought to a single logic and style.

A new approach to calibration
A new calibration option has been added to the release. The algorithm with step-by-step control of the field position helps to increase the accuracy and stability of the results. The algorithms for working with markers for manual and stationary scanners have also been improved, which further improves the accuracy of measurements.

Proton Scanner Support
The main functional innovation is the support of our new Proton scanner. The new update implements:

• storing two calibrations for two zones;
• new calibration fields;
• control of the projection module's autofocus system;
• control of laser pointers of the working distance.

All of the above functionality is available when working with the new Proton scanner.

Important compatibility Information
The Proton scanner is officially supported and fully tested in RV 3D Studio version 26.0. Compatibility testing with older scanner models continues: for them, we additionally evaluate the correctness of all scenarios and new functionality.

• Real-time color indication of the current markers visible by the scanner is implemented
• Added support for using multiple backbone networks in one project (one group is one backbone network)
• The possibility of scanning with the addition of geometry to the selected reference network is implemented
• Added 3 display options and the ability to hide camera views
• The DXF format has been returned to support third-party photogrammetry

Update on 01/21/25

Added:

• The function of changing the density of points within the project has been added: now each new scan can be done with the desired density, for example, to scan large parts, set a density of 0.7-1 mm, and scan some parts in more detail in one project. But be careful: when creating a model, you need to specify a density not higher than the specified one. The density indication of groups and scans will work in the following releases.
• The function of changing the density of points when creating a project has been added. Now, when creating a project, you can select not only the directory, name, but also the density of points.
• Internal calibration quality control has been added: the calibration algorithm does not skip bad measurements, does not allow scanning to be started without calibration.
• Added switching off the backlight of the diodes when the software is turned off
• An improved algorithm for collecting scan data has been added

Fixed:

• Fixed turning lasers on and off - now lasers turn off and on when switching only to calibration and scan section (when scanning starts), turn off automatically when completed.
• Fixing the "View" widget: the point cloud display is now working correctly
• Fixed an error in the calibration algorithm sequence - in the absence of camera calibration, lasers could not be calibrated.
• The initial backlight values have been changed: now the calibration is immediately set to the correct value of the backlight by diodes.
• Fixed a bug when selecting a point cloud, when part of the software functionality was blocked when selecting scan fragments.
• Fixed the issue of deleting scans from the marker network - scans periodically disappeared when deleting the first main scan.

• The synchronization of the scan mode indication has been fixed
• The problem of reconnecting the scanner has been fixed: now, when the power or cameras are turned off, just click “update hardware status”

Features of working with RangeVision Helix scanner (if you have any other RangeVision scanner)
For RV 3D Studio 2023.1.7 (and older): before launching BY 2024.0, it is necessary to rename the profiles for scanners running in version 2023 located in the folder C:\Users\RangeVision\AppData\Roaming\3dStudio\Scanners . It is enough to simply add any character in the folder name (for example, Scanners23).

If it is necessary to launch version 2023, the original profile names must be restored, and the profiles for the manual scanner must be renamed by adding any character to the profile name.

Minor update 2023.1.10 from 05.03.25
The package contains minor fixes for the new Spectrum related to cameras and projector:

• fixed camera image hovering when exposure changes;
• removed the choice of the projector name in the settings;
• fixed resetting the projector resolution when selecting the "default" settings.

Scanning
